It’s Fourth of July weekend which means everyone is decking themselves out in red, white and blue to try and capitalize on the federal holiday.
Anytime a majority of the country is off work, there will be businesses enticing you to get out and spend your money. Make the most of your marketing efforts for Independence Day, Labor Day and other federal holidays with these tips:
Run a special. Everybody loves a good deal, so offering a special when everyone is off work is sure to bring in the shoppers. Automobiles, appliances and electronics regularly go on sale for holiday weekends and customers will often need financing for these items, so financial institutions should consider offering a special rate.
Embrace patriotism. Have you ever noticed social media trends on Independence Day? Everyone, no matter their political or religious affiliation, is celebrating their country and all things American. On holidays like this, being “All American” is just as important as having a social purpose. Change your Facebook cover photo, send out a holiday-themed eblast or post festive graphics on Instagram.
Participate in local events. There are always festivals, parades, cookouts and family-friendly celebrations around holidays. Why not make an appearance and promote your business? Sign up to participate and hand out patriotic swag to all attendees. Then, snap and post pictures on your social media accounts. Not participating in any events? Have an Independence Day-themed potluck at the office and post those pictures instead.
Blog about it. Increase traffic to your website by blogging about holiday-themed topics. Festive recipes, family-friendly activities, safety tips and DIY party or decorating ideas are all fun topics to increase engagement and get readers in the holiday spirit.
Have a giveaway or contest. Keep your fans engaged on social media by running a contest or giveaway. Have a patriotic selfie contest or host a family-friendly photo scavenger hunt. It’s summertime and a holiday so everyone is in good spirits and are more likely to participate. Take it a step further and create a custom hashtag that fans can use to follow along.
